The director of the film The First This Time Blair Doroshwalther watched the 20 minute screening with the audience. "I believe that the case of the New Jersey Seven represents a grave miscarriage of justice," said Doroshwalther. "It reveals many of the ways that society punishes lesbian women of color for challenging the gender status quo."
Simone Dorsey, senior in Family Studies and Human Services, was on the panel after the screening and said the movie was a lot more shocking than it was reading about the case. "You really get to feel how unfair it is to be in my shoes," said Dorsey. "A poor gay woman of color."
