  • In this Photo Marvin Fitzwater, former U.S. Press Secretary and KSu Alum, spoke to a crowd Forum Hall about his experiences in Journalism from his time working as a student journalist for the Manhattan Mercury and the Topeka Capital Journal to the heights of his career working as the White House Press Secretary for President George H. Bush And President George W. Bush.

I love this photo because it just captured the moment perfectly. During the speech Mr. Fitzwater started to talk about the demise of the great American paper, with this acknowledgement the pain and grief flowed out of Fitzwater. As he heralded the demise of his life and livelyhood. His age had come to an end, this was such a dramatic, I just wanted this photo to project the sorrow of his words.

  • As the late afternoon sun hits the engineering complex, Shanon Robertson, sophomore in life sciences, waits for friends to join her before entering her Culture and Context in Leadership class. The course was designed to provide students with the opportunity to apply leadership skills to contemporary issues. Students studied materials that allowed them to analize the effect of culture on the concept of leadership individual development. ÒMy favorite part about the class was the group activities and discussions,Ó Robertson said. ÒIt helped open me up to new ideas.Ó

I saw this and it just popped. I knew I had to take this shot. I loved the lighting coming from the heavens illuminating this lonely girl on the bench. It just such a surreal moment.
