  • Staring intently at the game Kaylie Campbell, sophomore in animal science, holds her whistle in her mouth at the ready. While reffing intramural basket ball she keeps a close eye on the game even while running up and down the court. This is Campbell's first year reffing and says its been lots of fun so far. One big challenge she has faced though is learning the new positions. (Photo by Rowan Jones)

  • Sitting around the check in desk Melissa Mahoney, senior in biological education in the red, jokes with her co-workers, Kalen Rickmon, Katelyn Lee and Lindsey Fankhauser. Mahoney has been referring for 3 years but this year she stepped up to a management position. Lee, senior in bakery science, was in her first month of reffing and has found it somewhat challenging. "It's really interesting to see what basketball is like as an official. I played in high school and now sort of regret the things I said to the reffs." With that statement she also emphasized it has still been enjoyable.
